Troy's Becca Hartley hitting 2017 'out of the park'

TROY, AL (WSFA) -

Becca Hartley has been a force to be reckoned with for the Troy Trojans this season. Hartley has been a pitcher's worst nightmare in 2017. Her 14 homeruns have her ranked in the top 10 in the NCAA for homeruns this season.

"I have to give credit to my coaches in my teammates for just pushing me to be the best I can be," said Hartley. "It's been the experience over the last three years that's helped me so much this year."

Bombin' Becca has made pitchers lives miserable at the plate. To go along with her 14 dingers, Hartley is hitting a solid .341 on the year.

"During an at-bat, you're probably going to get several different pitches, but I'm just looking for one pitch, the one pitch I can be the most successful at and hopefully I'll get it," said Hartley.

And if Hartley ever gets a hold of one, you best believe it's going to be gone.

"It's kind of a great feeling. You can tell once you swing it if it's going a long way or not," said Hartley. "It's just awesome. I'm out here competing, trying to help my teammates, and hoping to get a W."

Hartley said she's received some jokes from members of the baseball team about the softball field being shorter thus making it easier for homeruns, but with her 14 homeruns being just one fewer than the entire baseball team has total, I think the joke is on them.

Some of the baseball players have been giving me crap, but I'll take it, "said Hartley. "The pitcher's a lot closer. It's about the same reaction time, so I think it's just as difficult."
