MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

The Alabama Governor’s Office has confirmed Bryan Taylor will replace David Byrne as general counsel to the governor.

Taylor served as policy director and counsel to Governor Bob Riley from 2006 to 2010. In 2010, he was elected to serve in district 30 that had been held by a Democrat, Sen. Wendell Mitchell, for nearly 30 years.

District 30 covers all of Autauga and Coosa counties as well as parts of Elmore, Chilton, and Tallapoosa counties.

In 2014, Taylor said he would not seek re-election for his Senate seat.
