The Montgomery Fire Department says a 62-year-old woman has been arrested in connection to a suspicious fire.

According to Sergeant O.J. Whiting, Priscilla Meeks of Montgomery has been charged with first-degree arson.

The charges are related to an investigation into a fire which happened on Saturday around 8:15 a.m. Fire units responded to the 600 block of Dorris Street where heavy smoke was coming from a single-story residence. No one was inside at the time of the fire but the home did suffer heavy damage, Whiting says.

Whiting says fire investigators were called to the scene of the fire after crews discovered there had been three separate fires inside the home. The fires were then determined by investigators to be incendiary in nature.

Further investigation identified Meeks as a suspect and indicated the arson resulted from a domestic dispute. Meeks confessed to setting the fire in retaliation to an argument she had with her fiance.

Meeks was taken to the Montgomery County Detention Facility under a $15,000 bond.
