BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

Birmingham police charged two men after finding multiple weapons and an explosive device in a truck during a traffic stop Thursday.

Police charged 27-year-old Joshua Ward, of Hamilton, with possession of explosive device and violation of state firearms act and 30-year-old Bradley Pullen, of Hueytown, with unlawful possession of a controlled substance.

This happened on 50th Street North at 1st Avenue North around 2 a.m.

During the traffic stop the driver of the truck was arrested on a weapons-related offense, according to Lt. Pete Williston. When officers searched the truck they found a possible explosive device which is described as homemade.

Two blocks were blocked off while officers worked the scene.

ATF agents and police took the device from the truck and secured it.

The driver is currently charged with carrying a firearm without a permit, but police say more charges are possible.
