Former Gov. Bentley pays remainder of campaign funds to the state

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

The attorney general's office confirms former Gov. Robert Bentley surrendered all money from his campaign account to the state, totaling more than $37,000. 

“As per the April 10 sentencing agreement, former Gov. Bentley has paid in full all fines and court costs totaling $7,644," according to a spokesperson with the attorney general's office. "Additionally, former Gov. Bentley has paid the State the remainder of his campaign funds totaling $37,391.42. There is no further payment due.”

The total includes the legal fees for Rebekah Mason and the remaining campaign funds. Bentley still has to complete 100 hours of community service as a physician.
