TROY, AL (WSFA) -

The Troy Trojans have come alive on the baseball diamond.

Troy is coming off a 5-2 victory over the fifth ranked Auburn Tigers, Troy's highest ranked victory in its Division 1 history.

Winners of five straight, the Trojans are riding high into a showdown with the team that won it all last year, the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers.

Coastal shocked the world last year winning the College World Series, which gave hope to all non-Group of Five schools.

The Trojans will look to use this momentum moving forward in the conference schedule.

"We haven't been able to string much together. We'd win a game, lose two. Win two, lose one," said head coach Mark Smartt. "We never could string do anything together. I think confidence has played a role in our recent success. Confidence, you have to earn that and we've earned it the last few days."

The Trojans and the Chanticleers will begin their three game series Friday at 5 p.m.
