AUBURN, AL (WSFA) -

Three Auburn University softball players arrested April 20 have addressed the issue on social media.

Makayla Martin, Haley Fagan and Brittany Maresette were arrested on drug charges.

Martin and Fagan, both starters on the team, issued apologies via Twitter.

"To my family, my friends, Coach Myers, my teammates, and the Auburn Family, I want to apologize for my actions that have caused so much embarrassment for each of you," said Martin in her apology.

Martin also said she knows now that she has a responsibility as a member of Auburn University Softball to the thousands of young softball girls that look up to her.

Fagan says, as a senior and leader on the team, she should have known better than to have placed herself in the situation.

"To my coach, my teammates and to the Auburn Family, the hardest part of all of this is knowing that I let each of you down. I look forward to supporting my team tonight and again, I am so sorry," said Fagan.

Maresette, a freshman on the team, also took to Twitter to apologize.

"Over the past week, I have never felt so much shame," Maresette said. "To the Auburn family, I am so sorry for the negative attention I have brought to our University."

Fagan is a redshirt senior infielder, Martin is a sophomore pitcher and Maresette is a freshman outfielder. They have been suspended indefinitely from the team.
