Does Vitamin C Help Colds?

A new study helps answer the question of whether vitamin c will actually protect you from the common cold.

In a review of 55 studies, researchers could not find consistent evidence that taking 200 milligrams of Vitamin C each day would reduce the risk of catching a cold. But, they found some proof it helped cut the duration of cold symptoms.

Researchers did see a benefit for people exposed to extreme cold weather and physical stress like marathoners, skiers and soldiers. Vitamin C appeared to cut their risk of catching a cold in half.
