City of Enterprise Hurricane Information

Mayor Boswell and the City of Enterprise have released the following information for people in the Enterprise area:

  • Residents in low lying areas and mobile homes should be ready to seek higher ground and shelter as the storm progresses.

  • Evacuation shelters will be opened as the need arises.

  • "With a storm as strong and unpredictable as Hurricane Dennis, there is no way the City of Enterprise can guarantee the safety or structural integrity of its shelters."

  • The city urges residents to seek assistance from family or friends who can provide a temporary place to stay.

  • Special needs patients (for example, those needing home oxygen, etc.) are encouraged to coordinate supplies with your current vendor to remain at your home during the storm, unless otherwise indicated.

  • All emergency shelters, when opened, are not equipped to care for special needs patients.

  • At anytime, should your physical condition require emergency treatment, you are encouraged to go to the emergency room at Medical Center Enterprise.

  • If you seek refuge in a shelter, please bring with you the following supplies for each member of your family: clothing, hygiene products, medication, food for 3-4 days, bedding, baby supplies, water and any other necessary supplies. NO PETS are allowed at shelters.

  • Citizens who experience power outages can call Alabama Power's automated outage reporting system at 1-800-888-2726. This number is the fastest way to report an outage. Alabama Power gives priority to hospitals, water and sewer treatment facilities, police, fire and other critical customers for the overall safety and well-being of the community at large. Individuals with critical medical needs should consider making alternate plans in case of outages.
  • The Water Works department is preparing for emergency operations. Emergency operations means the water supply is limited to emergency usage immediately following the storm. Water Works is activating emergency generators at various well sites pending electric service interruption. We ask that you please prepare your home for this period by filling containers of water. As soon as our system integrity has been determined and we can resume full scale operations, we will notify you through the various media sources.

  • The City of Enterprise will have personnel available for any needs associated with the city. If emergency assistance is needed during storm conditions, residents must keep in mind that the city cannot ensure prompt response due to dangers to its employees and general conditions existing at the time. However, the city will attempt to respond as quickly as possible as conditions permit.
