We haven't had a whole lot of cooling rain to go around these last few days. For some of you, that trend will continue. But the overall coverage of scattered storms will trend upward today and into the weekend. Regardless, this is typical Summertime weather around here through our weekend...
TODAY: With a trough nearby, coverage of storms will be a bit more numerous into the afternoon. We're a far cry from washout weather, but rain chances will fall to the tune of 40 percent across central and south Alabama.
As is usually the case those chances will peak in the afternoon through early evening. We're still hot and humid otherwise with highs in the lower 90s and heat index values around 100 degrees. That will provide an airmass with ample instability, helping support a few stronger thunderstorms with gusty winds and frequent lightning. I can't rule out a random Warning or two being needed today.
INTO THE WEEKEND: Let's do it again, shall we? Highs in the lower 90s with scattered mainly afternoon and evening storms will continue Saturday into Sunday. Outdoor plans do not need to be canceled. Some stay completely dry, others get a quick hour or so of rain and storms move on. This overall flavor of weather will continue into next week too.
