TUSCALOOSA COUNTY, AL (WBRC) -

Former Alabama Governor Robert Bentley plans to participate in a statewide day of service on Saturday through his Tuscaloosa dermatology practice.

According to a post on Bentley’s practice website, he will hold free skin cancer screenings on Saturday.

In the post, Bentley says he has seen an uptick in skin cancer cases this summer. He goes on to stress the importance of early skin cancer detection.

The post also says this is a project associated with Church of the Highlands Serve Day, an annual outreach day where the church does different service projects statewide.

“This is a project close to my heart as a physician, and it’s a way for me to serve our community alongside my church family,” Bentley states in the web post.

Earlier this year, Bentley resigned his role as Governor and returned to practice as a dermatologist.
