The Barbasol Championship is less than a week away from teeing off from the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Grand National in Opelika.
The tournament will play from July 20-23, and will feature some of the top players in the golf world while allowing an opportunity for some of the younger, inexperienced golfers to make a name for themselves.
The field will see 132 professional golfers, all swinging for a chance to bring home the largest purse awarded of any professional golf tournament hosted in Alabama.
Six of those 132 golfers belong to the Top 100 of the FedEx Cup rankings, led by Barbasol sponsored player #76 Chad Campbell. Former Auburn golfer Patton Kizzire is also on that list at #92.
1997 PGA Championship winner Davis Love III will be in the field of competition along with the 2001, 2004 U.S. Open Championship winner Retief Goosen.
It'll be a busy week for Love as the former Major champ is set to host a Junior Clinic two days prior to competition with his son Dru, who is also competing in the field.
Several players with ties to the state of Alabama will compete, including former Auburn University golfer Patton Kizzire and former Tide golfer Robby Shelton. Mobile native Bobby Wyatt returns to the Barbasol field after finishing in 72nd with a score of 1-under in last year's tournament.
Barbasol officials are expecting an attendance of more than 45,000 throughout the tournament week.
For those who can't make it out to the course, you can follow the action live all four days on the Golf Channel.
The Barbasol Championship is one of 45 official events on the PGA TOUR schedule and will be hosted by the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail Foundation.
