MILLBROOK, AL (WSFA) -

Millbrook police have arrested a teenager and are searching for a second suspect after an armed robbery Sunday afternoon.

According to Police Chief P.K. Johnson, a group of men approached two men at a business on Main Street and expressed interest in buying a motorcycle the victims had in the back of their truck.

The men asked the victims to meet them at Sandtown Road and Long Drive so they could look at the motorcycle. When they got to the location, one of the victims refused to remove the motorcycle from his vehicle until he saw money, Johnson said.

“At that point one of the offenders removed a firearm and fired two rounds nearby after the victim refused to turn the motorcycle over to his demands. The two offenders then fled the area on foot,” Johnson stated.

The suspects ran east on Long Drive. Officers responding to the area were able to take a 17-year-old suspect into custody in the 3600 block of Mickles Drive.

The second suspect was last seen running between Mickles drive and Pollard Drive. Law enforcement searched the area for several hours, but the K-9 team lost track of the suspect.

The 17-year-old suspect, who is from Millbrook, is being charged with two counts of robbery first degree. Johnson said he plans to charge the teen as an adult.

Johnson said they recovered the weapon used in the robbery and most of the second suspect’s clothing and shoes.

“I strongly suggest the second suspect turn himself in to our investigators. That will be the safest thing for him, our citizens, and our officers. It is our intent to exhaust every resource at our disposal to identify and apprehend this individual,” Johnson said.
