OPELIKA, AL (WSFA) - The stars were out during the day Wednesday in Opelika as professional golfers and some not-so-professional golfers hit the links for the Barbasol Championship Pro-Am at Grand National. The Auburn Tigers family was well represented during the event.
Aubie was the first one on the tees Wednesday morning and set the par pretty high by ripping his tee shot right down the middle of the fairway.
Joining Aubie on the course were former Tiger greats Ronnie Brown, Jason Campbell, and Will Herring.
Two of the bigger names on the course were Tigers head coaches Bruce Pearl and Gus Malzahn. Both seemed to have a good time on the course and Malzahn even got to keep up his hurry up lifestyle.
"The worst thing for me is people slow-play me," Malzahn said. "Today, we had a group that was playing good and all that. It was a lot of fun."
"The best moment was watching my partner get a two on a Par 5 with a stroke," said Pearl. "So, it was a neat one. So what do you call that? That is like a super-duper albatross. I'm not sure what you would call that. That's a War Eagle. That's what that is."
Both coaches agree they are better coaching than they are on the golf course.
