AUTAUGA CO., AL (WSFA) -

The State has rested its case in the high-profile murder trial of Vegas Contorno Wednesday after putting the person who performed the autopsy on her boyfriend's body on the stand.

Contorno is accused of intentionally killing Remington Foradori at their home in Prattville on August 7, 2015. He died of a single stab wound to the chest.

The prosecution's decision to rest comes just a day after opening statements got underway in the 2015 Autauga County murder case. On Tuesday, the jury saw the murder weapon and images of the bloody crime scene.

Contorno's attorneys, who are working to convince the jury their client was the victim of an abusive relationship, called two witnesses Wednesday but will call a bigger witness Thursday. There's no word on if Contorno will testify.
