Nine Trojans named to All-Sun Belt Preseason Team ahead of SBC Media Day

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - After a season in which they went 10-3, posting their first 10-win season in the school's D-I history, the Troy Trojans saw 9 of its players land on the All-Sun Belt Preseason Team Friday.

Led, by senior quarterback Brandon Silvers, wide receiver Emmanuel Thompson and offensive lineman Steven Rowzee also saw their names appear on the First Team Offense list. On First Team Defense, returning starter and defensive lineman Baron Poole.

On the Second Team Offense senior running back Jordan Chunn, wide receiver Deondre Douglas and offensive lineman Deontae Crumitie all found themselves listed. As for Second Team Defense, a pair of Trojans in the secondary in Kamryn Melton and Kris Weatherspoon filled out the honors for the Trojans.

Troy's nine selections were only second behind App State's 13.

The Trojans come off of a 2016 season in which they became the first Sun Belt Conference school to be ranked in the Associate Press poll, when they were ranked #25 in the country. It was also Troy's first time being ranked in the school's D-I history.

These awards come a day after Troy was chosen by the Sun Belt coaches to finish second behind App State in the preseason conference standings.

Sun Belt Conference Media Day will take place Monday in New Orleans at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
