Sun Belt Conference Media Day kicks off in New Orleans Monday

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - All 13 Sun Belt Conference teams will come together for Media Day Monday in New Orleans to preview the 2017 season.

With live coverage coming from the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, courtesy of ESPN3, fans will be able to see all of their favorite players and coaches. For this area, that means Troy fans will get the opportunity to see head coach Neal Brown address the media after a 2016 season that saw significant improvement.

The Trojans, who went 10-3 in 2016, walk into SBC Media Day as the Dollar General Bowl champs, but not the favorites. That adjective belongs attached to the Mountaineers of App State.

Currently, App State is the preseason odds-on favorite by the coaches to win the Sun Belt next year. Troy falls second on that list, after they received 127 points and two first-place votes.

The Mountaineers and Trojans also boast the first and second most selections to the preseason All-Sun Belt selection teams. Troy saw nine of its players land on the All-Sun Belt Preseason Team, while App State saw 13. The full list can be accessed here.

App State boasts the preseason Offensive Player of the Year selection in junior running back Jalin Moore. Moore last season rushed for 1,402 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Fans can't forget about Arkansas State, who earned a share of the Conference title with App State last season. Ark State, receiving one first-place vote, was picked by the coaches to finish third in the preseason polls. The Red Wolves have the preseason Defensive Player of the Year selection in senior defensive lineman Ja'Von Rolland-Jones.

Troy fans can tune in to Coach Brown's press conference on ESPN3 at 1:55 p.m. as he takes the podium Monday.

Brown will be joined in New Orleans by quarterback Brandon Silvers and running back Jordan Chunn.
