Gardendale police searching for 'armed, dangerous' suspect following chase

GARDENDALE, AL (WBRC) -

Gardendale police are searching for a suspect who remains at large after a car chase on Wednesday afternoon that ended near Warrior.

Authorities received a call about a red Mustang involved in illegal activity. When they located the Mustang and attempted to pull the driver over, he led police on a chase approximately 15 miles that ended on Lang Road.

Officials say the car finally pulled over, then the suspect fled the scene on foot. Two other suspects, a male and female, were taken into custody.

Police identify the suspect who fled as 42-year-old Jonathan Nathaniel Corley of Empire, Alabama. They say he was last seen in the vicinity of Beltona Lane near Warrior.

According to police, Corley is wanted on felony charges in Jefferson County. He is to be considered armed and dangerous.

Several police officers and a couple of county deputies were reportedly taken to area hospitals for treatment of heat related illness including dehydration and muscle cramps.
