HOUSTON CO., AL (WSFA) -

The Houston County Sheriff's Office confirmed that a juvenile was struck and killed by lightning Wednesday afternoon.

Aron Dunn, 16, was struck and killed at his home on Willie Varnum Road in South Dothan, according to the Houston County Coroner.

The Houston County Sheriff's Office says Dunn had walked into his enclosed back porch when the lightning struck not one, but two large trees nearby. The strike then jumped from the trees to Dunn, traveling from his head to his feet.

Dunn's younger brother found him moments after the family heard the boom from the strike nearby.

Officials say Dunn was a student at Cottonwood High School.

Reporter Bryan Henry spoke to officials and has details coming up on-air, online and on our mobile app.
