An 8-year-old Prattville boy who went missing Sunday afternoon was found safe Monday morning, according to officials with the Prattville Police Department.

Prattville Police Capt. Pat Kowalczyk says Avery Niles Williams was found around 7:15 a.m. by someone in the community who then turned him into authorities.

Prattville spokesperson Lisa Byrd said the child was found near his home in Candlestick Park. No other details about the location or child's condition were given.

Byrd said there isn't a criminal investigation related to the missing child at this time.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency issued a missing child alert for Avery on Sunday after he was reported missing around 4:30 p.m. in the area of Candlestick Park.

Prattville Police say teams were searching through the night into Monday morning for Williams. While Williams had run away before, officials said there was reason to believe that this was more than a runaway case.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency's aviation unit was also involved in the search.

The search for Williams was in the same area where 11-year-old Shannon Paulk went missing in 2001. On Oct. 6, 2001, Shannon's remains were located off of Autauga County Road 66, in the Autauga County Wildlife Management area. While her remains have been located her murder remains unsolved.
