MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

Montgomery police are investigating a double shooting near the city's West Boulevard in the area of the Smiley Court housing complex.

Police and medics were called to two scenes, one in the 3400 block of Otis Lane and one at nearby Cresta Circle at Estate Avenue.

Montgomery Police Department spokeswoman Capt. Regina Duckett said despite having two scenes, officers believe the shootings are related and are investigating them as a single shooting with two victims.

Initially, one victim was believed to have life-threatening injuries. Duckett says that victim has since been upgraded to non-life-threatening condition.

There are no suspects in custody at this time and no known motive.

Thursday has been a particularly busy one for Montgomery officers. In addition to these shooting victims, an unrelated case involves a boy who was shot less than an hour earlier on Pickett Street in north Montgomery. That boy's injuries are also considered non-life-threatening.
