MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

A suspect has been charged with shooting a boy Thursday morning on Pickett Street in Montgomery.

Lawrence Dean, 34, is charged with second-degree assault in connection to the shooting that happened at around 11:30 a.m. on Thursday. The juvenile victim sustained a non-life threatening gunshot wound in the 100 block of Pickett Street.

An investigation indicates the shooting happened due to an ongoing dispute between Dean and a family member of the child. MPD says the boy was injured when gunfire broke out.

Dean was taken into custody Tuesday morning by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force and then taken to the Montgomery County Detention Facility.
