AUBURN, AL (WSFA) - The Auburn Tigers have named a starting quarterback for the 2017 football season.
Monday, head coach Gus Malzahn tweeted the starting QB will be Jarrett Stidham.
The sophomore transfer from Baylor University was named the offensive MVP of Auburn's A-Day game with 16 of 20 passes completed for a total of 267 yards. He also had a 1-yard rushing touchdown from a recovered fumble.
"I thought he managed the offense well," Malzahn said of Stidham during the A-Day game. "I thought that he protected the football. That's really where it starts. The number one thing. It was good for him to get out there in front of a crowd. He hasn't been in front of a crowd in a long time."
Another Auburn quarterback, Sean White, tweeted shortly after the announcement that he's "All in!".
The Tigers' season opener takes place on Sept. 2 against Georgia Southern before turning around a week later to play Clemson, the defending national champion.
