Bessemer PD searching for suspect who escaped in handcuffs

BESSEMER, AL (WBRC) -

Bessemer police are searching for a burglary suspect who got away in handcuffs. 

Police say officers caught the man after he broke into DTLR clothing store in Academy Drive and stole some shoes. He was arrested but somehow escaped while still handcuffed. 

Officers searched for the suspect for an hour before calling it off. 

Anyone with any information regarding the suspect's whereabouts is asked to call the Bessemer Police Department.
