COPY-Doctors urge precautions as heat wave hits

UNDATED, Ala. Health experts are warning Alabamians to take precautions as scorching temperatures continue to soar this week.

Doctors say symptoms to look out for include headaches, excessive sweating and vomiting.Health officials warn people who have to be outside in the heat to drink plenty of non-caffienated fluids. Physicians say that can include sodas or juices, as long as they don't contain caffiene.Temperatures today are expected to reach mid to upper 90s across much of Alabama. Meteorologists say the heat index will make those temperatures feel higher than 105 degrees.The heat index is a measure of how hot it feels when the effect of humidity are combined with the temperature.
