PIKE ROAD, AL (WSFA) -

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a 'suspicious' fire that happened overnight in Pike Road.

According to Pike Road Fire Chief Matt Missildine, firefighters were called to the 2500 block of Morningstar Road. The home was vacant and there was no electricity running to the structure at the time.

No word on what may have caused the fire but Missildine says they do consider the fire suspicious.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office is assisting the sheriff’s office in the investigation.
