BALDWIN COUNTY, AL (WALA) -

After an undercover sting, the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office said it arrested a man who had been stealing disabled vehicles from the side of Interstate 65.

Deputies said the investigation lasted a year. It started when the sheriff's office noticed a trend of disabled vehicles disappearing. On November 13, the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division planted a car with a tracking device on I-65.

Four days later, the vehicle was taken from the location. Deputies tracked it to Escambia County, Alabama where they arrested Charles Williams of Lapine. Investigators say Williams had the stolen vehicle on the back of his tow truck. The sheriff's office says he operates a towing business in Montgomery.

Williams was charged with Theft of Property.
