MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - I'm Steven L. Reed, Montgomery County Probate Judge. The most critical way that individuals can influence governmental decision-making is through voting.
On Dec. 12, the voters of Montgomery County will make their choice for the U.S. Senate seat between Doug Jones and Roy Moore. Voters who reside in Alabama Senate District 26 will also vote in the Democratic primary between the five candidates running in that race.
In those precincts included in Senate District 26, voters may be eligible to vote in both elections held at the same polling place, with check-in tables for each election located on opposite sides of the room.
Remember there are two distinct elections taking place on Tuesday, Dec. 12. One is a U.S. Senate Election, the other, in those precincts that encompass Senate District 26, is a Democratic Primary.
"The vote is the most powerful instrument ever devised…for breaking down injustice…" said Lyndon B. Johnson, 36th President of the United States.
I'm asking the voters of Montgomery County to utilize the most powerful instrument ever devised on Dec. 12, use it to influence your governments' decision-making, and express your preference by going to the polls and voting.
That is how you can influence and participate in your local and county government. No other action will be as impactful or rewarding.
