MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - A group of teenage girls did something special in Montgomery over the weekend.
The Keith Bryant Restoring Hope Operation raised money to help with a toy drive for Hurricane Harvey survivors. Montgomery attorney Karen Materna served as an outlet and gathered some River Region teens to purchase supplies such as hairbrushes, make-up and fuzzy socks for storm survivors.
Materna said she got the idea after hearing about a couple of guys who started Operation Restoring Hope in which they raised money and fed tens of thousands of Hurricane Harvey victims.
Materna said it occurred to her you can restore anyone's hope by simply being kind to anyone, and so she will take the shopping spree gifts to the hurricane survivors in Texas on Dec. 16.
