Guest Editorial: 12's Day of Giving

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

In a few days, we will have a special opportunity to respond to our neighbors in need. Our thanks goes out to WSFA 12 News for again hosting "WSFA 12's Day of Giving" on Monday, Dec. 11.

The 12 news tents will be set up in front of the Walmart Superstore on Atlanta Hwy. from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. During this time you are encouraged to stop by with your monetary contributions, new toys, and non-perishable food items.

We are honored that the Montgomery Area Food Bank has once again been selected (along with Toys for Tots and the Christmas Clearinghouse) to receive
contributions from this event. All these charities do a phenomenal job in helping those in need.

The MAFB has the responsibility to feed the "food insecure" in 35 of Alabama's 67 counties. That responsibility begins right here (at home) in the River Region and extends to the Georgia and Mississippi lines.

I once had someone ask if the holidays were the busiest time of the year for us. My response was "Not really. Hunger doesn't take a holiday. It's a 365 day a year battle we are engaged in."

Your support is making a tangible difference in the lives of children, adults and senior citizens in the River Region and throughout Alabama.

Make a difference. Give what you can to 12's Day of Giving!

Rich Deem - Montgomery Area Food Bank CEO
