DOTHAN, AL (WSFA) -

A senior center in Dothan in jeopardy of closing has been saved, thanks to a generous senior living facility.

According to officials with Westside Terrace Healthcare, Haleburg Senior Citizen Center was in danger of closing its doors at the end of the year due to budget cuts. Before that could happen, Westside donated the funds needed to help cover part of the shortfall and operating costs.

Westside officials say they also wanted to contribute to enriching life at the center and decided to donate new recreational equipment. In addition to the financial help, Westside also donated two laptop computers, an exercise peddler and a Nintendo Wii bundle pack which includes games and accessories.

According to officials, all of the donated items will be given to the center Wednesday at 10 a.m.
