MOBILE, AL (WALA) -

UPDATE: Friday night's Elfapalooza will be relocated inside to the ballroom at the Mobile Convention Center, according to a post on the LODA Artwalk Facebook page.

A Mobile city official earlier told FOX10 News the event was canceled due weather. But now the event is "on."

The new plan calls for doors to open at 5:30 p.m. Friday. 

The public is invited each year to take part in an attempt to break the Guinness Book World Record for "the most Santa's elves in a single location." The record stands at 1,762. 

Christmas karaoke will be happening from 5:30 until 7:25 p.m.

From 7 until 7 p.m, the “gates” close – no one in or out for the official counting of the elves. The elf Count will be announced at 7:10

A fireworks show on the river starts at 9:15, weather permitting

Early attendees will have the opportunity to make craft items while supplies last.

There is no cost to participate. Everyone is encouraged to arrange their own costume. A limited supply of elf ears and hats will be available, compliments of the City of Mobile Special Events Department.
