MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Friday, the governor's legal office will be open to receive proposals for search firms looking to help the state find its next state superintendent.
Former State Superintendent Michael Sentance resigned after his relationship with the state school board deteriorated. Since then Dr. Ed Richardson has taken over the job for an interim basis.
"I think Alabama is in position to attract a good person," Richardson said. "I think the board is committed based off past experience that we need to get this one right."
The proposals from potential search firms are due by Jan. 3.
A sub committee of the school board will then decide on a search firm to help find the best candidates.
Richardson hopes a new superintendent can be found sometime around April.
