Triple A fuel survey finds another hike in motor fuels

(AP)_ Gasoline prices continue to hit record highs in Alabama.

According to Triple-A Alabama, the average price for all three grades rose an average of ten-cents-a-gallon since yesterday (Sunday).

Nationwide, gas prices shot up nearly 20 cents to $2.52 a gallon since Friday.

Triple-A's Daily Fuel Gauge Report today shows regular unleaded averaging $2.40; midgrade fuels are $2.57; and premium is nearly $2.65 a gallon.

The Birmingham-based auto club said the price for regular has risen about 18 cents since the start of August and are up more than 72 cents since the beginning of the year.

Analysts say demand for gasoline will likely remain high through the end of August, but should drop after Labor Day.
