LOXLEY, AL (WALA) -

A state inmate who escaped from the Loxley Work Release Center in Baldwin County on Jan. 10 has been recaptured.

Jonah Andrew Salers, 23, was taken into custody by DeKalb County Sheriff's deputies at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 14.  Deputies found Salers in a stolen vehicle on County Road 328 in Albertville.

Officials say Salers was arrested without incident and taken to the DeKalb County Detention Center to await his return to the Alabama Department of Corrections.

He will be charged with the escape and first-degree theft of property. He is serving a four-year sentence on a 2016 third-degree burglary conviction in Etowah County.
