Middle school students challenged to 'random acts of kindness' for Parkland shooting anniversary

CLEVELAND, GA (RNN) - A Georgia middle school has urged students to participate in a new challenge to honor the 17 victims of last month’s shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, FL.

Students at White County Middle School will be performing 17 “random acts of kindness” the one month after the Florida high school shooting. The Warrior Kindness Drive will end on March 21.

Each kind gesture will be logged on a paper next to the names of the 17 victims of the Parkland shooting. The logs will then be mailed to the Florida high school as a sign of support.

“The idea was developed by a teacher, Melanie Lawhorn and her students,” the school said in a social media post.

There are close to 900 students enrolled at the school which could mean equate to thousands of acts of kindness.

The school is located 80 miles northeast of Atlanta.
