New charge for Auburn man in child porn investigation

AUBURN, AL (WSFA) - One day after the Auburn Police Department confirmed the arrest of a 24-year-old on charges of possession of child pornography, a new charge has been added: production of pornography with minors

Andrew Benjamin Cantley, of Auburn, was arrested Friday following an investigation into a report filed on March 26. The report indicated inappropriate photographic images of an underage female being disseminated and posted to a social media website.

An investigation developed Cantley as a suspect and he was arrested on April 16 on unrelated charges. Investigators recovered electronic and data storage devices in Cantley's possession and examined them.

The investigation found the devices contained explicit images of a known underage female. That's when detectives secured a warrant for his arrest on the child pornography possession charges.

Cantley was taken to the Lee County Detention Facility where he was initially held on a $10,000 bond. That has since been increased to $60,000.

Auburn police say the case remains under investigation and more charges are possible.
