ALEXANDER CITY, AL (WSFA) -

A person has died at a fair in Alexander City, the Alex City Police Department confirms.

According to Tallapoosa County Coroner Mike Knox, a 45-year-old man died after a fall from the "Ring of Fire" ride at the fair. The operator of the ride asked the man, whom ACPD identified as an employee, to do a safety inspection. He was about a quarter of the way up the ride and coming down when he fell.

The victim has not been identified, but Knox did say he is from Belarus, a country east of Poland.

Knox said the ride was not operating when the man fell, and no one was in line. The fair did not close.
