SELMA, AL (WSFA) - One man is dead and two others are injured after an early morning shooting Saturday in Selma.
According to Dallas County Coroner William Dailey, Ernest Weaver Daniels III, 26, was shot and killed as a result of an altercation between several individuals. Selma Police Chief Spencer Collier reports that officers responded to the scene at 203 Highland Ave., which is Raceway Convenience Store, at around 3 a.m. There they found Daniels lying on the pavement near the gas pumps.
Collier said Care Ambulance responded but medics were unable to revive Daniels. When the coroner arrived, he declared Daniels dead from apparent gunshot wounds.
Collier said two other victims were shot: Matravius Aaron, 20, of Selma, and Marquavius Benjamin, 19, of Selma. They were taken to Vaughn ER before officers arrived.
Selma officers found a Green Ford Expedition in the parking lot with bullet holes in it. They also recovered multiple shell casings.
Investigators are working the case as a homicide and two first degree assault investigations. Collier said they believe unknown suspects shot all three victims. Anyone with information should call the Selma Police Department.
