DADEVILLE, AL (WSFA) - Dadeville city leaders have started a new vehicle purchase program for the police department.
This is the second year in which the Dadeville Police Department received a new police vehicle. In this case, a white Tahoe. The program allows the department to receive one new vehicle per year. It doesn't take long before the miles pile up, adding wear and tear on the cruisers.
"We've got one for 2017, one '18 and one '19 coming up, and then we'll get another new one," said Dadeville Police Chief David Barbour.
Chief Barbour said his department has a fleet of eight vehicles. The total cost is around $42,000 per vehicle, which includes the car itself outfitted with lights and sirens.
