Resurrection Catholic Missions to host 'Tolton, From Slave to Priest'

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Happening this week, there will be free showings of a play that's been making its way across the Southeast.

"Tolton: From Slave to Priest" is a live theater production based on the life of Father Augustus Tolton, who was born a slave but persevered through hardships to become the first African American priest. It's said to be a story of courage, forgiveness, and reconciliation.

Resurrection Catholic Missions is hosting the showings. The first one is Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Alabama State University's J. Garrick Hardy Student Center. The last two are Thursday at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m.
