Memorial Day weekend events to be held across Alabama

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

Memorial Day weekend is approaching, and there will be events held across the state to commemorate the holiday. 

If you need something to do over the three day weekend, there are several events already scheduled:

Montgomery Symphony Jubilee Pops ConcertThe concert will be held on the lawn of the Alabama Archives and History Building, across from the Alabama State Capitol, on May 25. Picnic baskets, coolers, lawn chairs, and blankets are welcome at this outdoor concert. Admission is free. 

Central Alabama Veterans Health Care System Memorial Day Observance - On May 28, CAVHCS will remember the men and women who sacrificed and died while in service for protecting the country. The program starts at 11 a.m. at the Montgomery VA Medical Center, outdoors near the Avenue of Flags. 

RXR Festival in Alexander City - From May 25 to 27, attendees can enjoy local and regional musical acts on the Town Green at Russell Crossroads. Coolers, lawn chairs and dogs on leashes are welcome. Admission is free.  

Art on the Lake in Eclectic - More than 40 artists from across the southeast will display and show their work at Children's Harbor on Lake Martin. Artwork will include canvas art, pottery, jewelry, rock work, and more. The event will be held May 26 to 27, and admission is free. 

Memorial Day Ceremony in Andalusia - The City of Andalusia will hold its Memorial Day Ceremony on May 28 at 10 a.m. The event will be held at the Covington Veterans Memorial behind Andalusia City Hall. 

Beach Ball Drop at The Wharf in Orange Beach - The Wharf will celebrate the start of the summer on May 25 with a concert by country star Craig Campbell, live entertainment, rides, and the fifth annual Pepsi Beach Ball Drop. 5,000 beach balls will be released. Admission is free. 

LuLu Palooza in Gulf Shores - Live music will play all day May 26 on the outdoor boat stage at the Homeport Marina. Admission is free.
