AUBURN, AL (WSFA) - Looking for a family-friendly weekend idea that won't take too much planning or travel? Consider the Kreher Preserve and Nature Center.

The Kreher Preserve and Nature Center is a 120-acre nature park that offers activities for all age groups. Its nature playground was the first of its kind in the southeast. It features an eagles nest, a beaver's lodge, chipmunk hole, all human-sized!

The Preserve has also been named part of the regional Piedmont Valley Birding Trail. Around 80 different bird species can be seen throughout the year. There is also a butterfly garden and a turtle pond, and live animals that have been tamed and trained as educational tools.
