SELMA, AL (WSFA) - A former Dallas County first responder who was arrested in early 2017 on charges he sexually abused a child has pleaded guilty, according to Dallas County District Attorney Michael Jackson.

Christopher Scott Hobson was sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading to first-degree sodomy.

"We are going to keep shipping these child predators off to prison," Jackson said.

Hobson, of Valley Grande, was arrested in January 2017 and charged with sodomy and sexual abuse of a young boy over the course of several years.

According to investigators at the time, the victim told family members about the abuse and his mother called the sheriff's office.

Following his arrest, Captain Mike Granthum with the Criminal Investigations Division in the sheriff's office confirmed Hobson was a first responder, but that he was not associated with law enforcement and that the crimes did not happen while he was working.
