MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Get ready! A weak tropical low in the Gulf will move our way this week, bringing multiple waves of rain and storms to much of Alabama. While that sounds simple enough, there is always a devil or two in the details...
Scattered to numerous showers and storms will sweep into east and southeast Alabama at times tomorrow, Wednesday and into Thursday. The greatest coverage and intensity of rain will be roughly along and east of I-65, where 2-4 inches of rain is likely through Thursday. Because of the clouds and showers, afternoon temperatures will stay in the low and mid 80s.
West of the interstate, the rain will be a bit lighter and more scattered in nature, so not everyone will get as wet. With more sunshine, temperatures in west Alabama will run several degrees hotter than the eastern counties.
We'll also mention the low chance that the system in the Gulf becomes classified as a tropical or subtropical storm. While this is a long shot, it could happen. If it does, it will be named Alberto. Regardless, no major bad impacts are expected in Alabama - just some much needed rainfall!
