After late evening and early morning showers across parts of Alabama, we are mostly dry to start our afternoon. Besides a few isolated areas of rain, a mix of sunshine and cloud cover is dominating the sky.
If you haven't seen rain quiet yet - just wait! Much of today's activity will develop over the next few hours and will last through the evening.
A chunk of upper energy will pivot in our direction into the afternoon; that should help drive fresh thunderstorm develop from west to east over the next 6-12 hours.
The rain will help keep the heat under control with highs in western Alabama a bit warmer than most thanks to some early sunshine... they will be in the mid/uppers 80s while most counties in eastern portions of the state are under an overcast sky, so low/mid 80s are likely for everyone else.
The overall wetter pattern lingers into the weekend with daily shots of mainly afternoon downpours.
