MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - The Montgomery Regional Airport is celebrating its new flight to Orlando-Sanford International Airport.
MGM has been working to increase its footprint and began flights to Orlando on Monday. Via Airlines offers the flights to Orlando every Sunday, Monday, Thursday, and Friday. Each flight holds fifty passengers.
Officials hope that with the added flights, more people will choose to make Montgomery a travel destination.
The airport and Via Airlines sponsored a crew from WSFA's Central Alabama Weekend to go on the first flight from Montgomery to Orlando, taking care of all the travel and accommodations. Over the past three days, the crew has been shown all the cool things you can do in Orlando.
