LOACHAPOKA, AL (WSFA) - Things weren't always easy for Loachapoka High School senior Jaqaevius Porter-Scott.
After being raised in a single parent household, Jaqaevius was determined to make it to college and graduate, like his older brother.
Now as he wraps up his senior year of high school, he's on the right road to making that happen.
"My mom didn't go to college, so I was like, I'm going to do everything I can in high school so I can do everything for her, make sure that she be all right, she be living straight. So I got involved in a lot of stuff, community service, sports, everything I can. I'm attending Huntingdon College in Montgomery. I'm playing football there, I'll be playing nose guard. I'm majoring in sports management," Porter-Scott said.
Jaqaevius says he's looking forward to graduation on May 25.
