DOTHAN, AL (WSFA) -

Dothan police have arrested and charged a man with over 40 counts of breaking and entering a vehicle.

Monday, the Dothan Police Department responded to a call at American Trailers on a report of several company trucks being broken into. An employee said they witnessed a man taking vehicle batteries from the vehicles before the suspect fled the scene. Before the suspect could get away, the employee got the tag number to his vehicle.

Wednesday, police identified the suspect as Luther Todd McCart, 46, of Dothan. McCart was taken into custody and was charged with 45 counts of breaking and entering a motor vehicle at the time.

McCart was charged with two more counts of breaking and entering for his involvement in some vehicle break-ins at a Road Runner Delivery in Dothan. This brought his total number of charges to 47.

He has been taken to the Dothan City Jail where he's been placed under bonds totaling $705,000.
