TROY, AL (WSFA) - Troy University has issued an 'all clear' alert to its students and staff after advising them Friday afternoon to avoid the area near University Avenue and Brundidge Street after city police responded to reports of shots fired in that area.
The incident was not on Troy's campus but was in close proximity to it.
According to Troy University Police Chief John McCall, the shots happened at a gas station on the corner of University and Brundidge. McCall said one person was shot in the leg. That person was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
McCall said no Troy students were in danger, but that authorities continue searching for a suspect. No description of the suspect was immediately available.
